This produces a similar effect to the method in PowerPoint Pop Ups but with cleaner, less cluttered slides

First create the "hot spot". Insert a suitable shape and set its fill to 99% transparent (100 % may not always work in the viewer) and no line. Position it as required. In the diagram we have used 75% transparent so it is visible!

Create a second duplicate copy of the slide. With this slide only add the information that you want to pop up. We have used an image and some text.

information added

Now add the animation. Select all the elements of the information using Ctrl Click or drag a selection outline. Now in custom animation add the entrance of your choice. Make all animations with previous.

Create a new custom show and add this slide to it.

With the original slide give the hot spot an action of hyperlink to custom show and tick show and return.

Test it out - click the hot spot should take you to the custom show and a click should take you back. You can add as many hot spots as you wish.

Optionally you can add a second duplicate slide to the custom show with exit animations. This slide only should have an auto transition of zero seconds
