PowerPoint Tabbed Templates

This is for PowerPoint 2010 but the principle will work with other versions.

If you save your own templates you will be able to choose to base any new presentation on that template. The Dialog looks like this in 2010 (a little different in other versions):

Standard dialog

Suppose though you have a LOT of custom templates and want more tabs than just the standard one? Maybe more like this....

Customised tabs

It's not obvious at first how to acchieve this but it's not that difficult!

First you need to go to the save location for personal templates this is likely to be:

C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates\ in Vista or Windows 7

C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Appication Data\Microsoft\Templates in XP

Now add sub folders using the names of the Tabs you would like to appear. Finally place the relevant template files in the folders. The TAB will ONLY appear if the folder contains a template file.
