PowerPoint 2013 Presenter View

PowerPoint stays in Extended View

Presenter view is great showing the presenter notes and the audience the presentation. Version 2013 introduced a new problem though.

After you close presenter view (which must use Extended Monitors the view does not revert to your original view but stays "Extended". To get back to you working view you have to manually change the view.

Solution

You need to create a registry key to change the behaviour back to the expected behaviour.

If you are confident working in the registry:

Open REGEDIT

Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\PowerPoint\Options

Create a new DWord and name it RestoreTopology

Set the value to 1

For 2016 change 15.0 to 16.0

If you are not confident:

You can download the key from our site. It is a zipped file so unzip it and double click to add the key. The key has been carefully tested but it's use is at your risk. Works in 2013 and 2016
